The Mandelbrot mugs and the golden spirals are not drawings of mathematics. They are the mathematics, computed at print resolution and framed to the curve of the cup, so the detail is exactly right at any size you look at it.
The foxes, the wildflowers and the waves went the other way, drawn first and then composed for the full wrap rather than dropped on as a square patch with bare ceramic either side.
Every design is laid out for the whole cup. That is the point.
